PSRO-BARMM Leads Rido Settlements in April 2024
COTABATO CITY (April 29, 2024) – In a significant development, the Peace and Security Office of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (PSRO-BARMM) spearheaded multiple successful rido settlements during the month of April 2024.
On April 16, 2024, PSRO-BARMM played a pivotal role in resolving a longstanding dispute between Habib Biya (105th BC) and Semen Ganggiya (128th BC) at its office. The conflict of the two parties originated from a marital conflict in Barangay Central Labas, Midsayap, North Cotabato, reached an amicable resolution through dedicated mediation efforts.
Another milestone in this reconciliation journey unfolded on April 24, 2024, as Captain Esmael P. Talusan of Barangay Matilac facilitated negotiations between Datu Kulab, Kagi Sebod, and others. The settlement involved the assistance of Mayor Datu Umbra Dilangalen of Northern Kabuntalan. The gathering took place at the 34th Infantry Battalion Headquarters in Barangay Salunayan, Midsayap North Cotabato.
The collaborative endeavor engaged key stakeholders, including the Moro Islamic Liberation Front Coordinating Committee on the Cessation of Hostilities (MILF-CCCH) and the Philippine Army’s 34th Infantry Battalion. PSRO-BARMM and the MILF’s Area Higher Judicial and Advisory Group (AHJAG) played crucial roles in ensuring the success of the rido settlements.
These settlements not only marked the resolution of specific disputes but also highlighted stakeholders’ commitment to fostering peace and harmony within the community. The conflict resolution stakeholders served as shining examples of effective collaboration in addressing longstanding grievances and promoting reconciliation of conflicting parties in the region.
