COTABATO CITY (May 23, 2024) — The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD), through its Sulu Logistics Office, distributed Emergency Go Bags to 62 emergency responders in Patikul on May 14, 2024.
The distribution included 30 bags for Patikul’s barangays, 27 for Para-social Workers, and five (5) for the Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO). Each Emergency Go Bag was equipped with essential items including a solar lamp, radio, whistles, rope, collapsible water container, first aid supplies, a manual resuscitator, CPR kit, tactical medical tourniquet, rubber boots, and raincoats, among other critical tools.
This initiative aims to equip emergency responders, barangay officials, and volunteers with the necessary resources to effectively manage and respond to disasters and emergencies. Alongside the distribution, the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and MDRRMO Patikul conducted orientations and demonstrations on using the provided equipment.
In the coming weeks, the MSSD Sulu Provincial Office will also distribute 180 Emergency Go Bags to 4Ps beneficiaries. This effort is part of the Ligtas Pamilya Project by MSSD’s Disaster Response Management Division (DRMD), designed to enhance the disaster preparedness and resilience of community leaders, local responders, and households.
