Message of Condemnation of the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education anent the recent bombing in the MSU-Marawi
On behalf of the Ministry of Basic, Higher, and Technical Education, I am profoundly saddened and vehemently condemn the deplorable bombing incident that occurred the morning of December 3 at the Dimaporo Gymnasium within the grounds of Mindanao State University (MSU) in Marawi City. This senseless act of violence has no place in a nation that values peace, justice, education, and the sanctity of human life.
Our thoughts and deepest sympathies are with the victims – four dead and 42 wounded – and their families during this difficult time. The Ministry stands ready to support those affected by this tragedy. We are committed to working closely with the administration of Mindanao State University to provide the necessary assistance and resources to help the MSU community recover and heal from this traumatic event.
Furthermore, I urge the public to allow the authorities to conduct their investigations thoroughly and effectively. It is essential during such critical times that we rely on verified information. I appeal to everyone to refrain from spreading unverified news on social media platforms, which can lead to unnecessary panic and misinformation. Let us show solidarity by supporting each other in seeking factual information and allowing the authorities to do their work.
The MBHTE stands firmly against violence, especially in educational institutions that are safe spaces for learning and growth. We shall continue to advocate for the safety and well-being of all students, faculty members, and school personnel in the Bangsamoro and the rest of the country.
Let us unite in this trying time to support one another and affirm our commitment to peace, education, and the rule of law.
