
Years-Long Clan Feud Between the Maraguir and Akmad Families Resolved in Pahamuddin, SGA-BARMM

COTABATO CITY (October 9, 2025) — A long-standing clan feud, known as “rido,” between the Maraguir and Akmad families has finally been resolved thanks to the collaborative efforts of the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pahamuddin, SGA, BARMM. This initiative was led by Mayor Yasser “Yay” Ebrahim, in partnership with the MILF-CCCH, MPOS-BARMM, AHJAG, PNP, AFP, and local barangay officials.
The successful Rido Settlement ceremony underscored the importance of cooperation among peace stakeholders in the Bangsamoro region, as both families formally reconciled and pledged to end years of conflict.
Attending the peace settlement were Mayor Yasser “Yay” Ebrahim, members of the Sangguniang Bayan led by Vice Mayor Ebrahim “Ebs” Lauban Rahman, who delivered the welcome address, and Hon. Raffy Ben Alhusainie Abusaima Husain from the MILF-CCCH and the Municipal Council of Pahamuddin.
Representatives from the security sector included PCPT Rafael Bataan, Chief of the Pahamuddin Municipal Police Station; LTC Edgardo B. Batinay, Battalion Commander of the 34th Infantry “Reliable” Battalion of the Philippine Army; PLTCOL Samuel Roy A. Subsuban from the Maguindanao del Norte Police Provincial Office (MDN PPO); and Jemmy Adil, a local mediator from SGA.
Mayor Ebrahim expressed his gratitude to both families for their cooperation and sincerity in resolving their dispute, emphasizing that unity and reconciliation are essential for lasting peace in the community.
“I thank both families for their willingness to reconcile. This marks a new beginning for peace and progress in our municipality,” stated Mayor Ebrahim.
Vice Mayor Rahman highlighted the historical significance of the settlement, noting that the Maraguir–Akmad conflict had been one of the most prominent rido cases in Pahamuddin’s history since its establishment as a municipality.
Both families officially signed a peace covenant, witnessed by local leaders and security officials—an act symbolizing their commitment to uphold peace and end hostilities for good. (BMN/BangsamoroToday)
