GENERAL SANTOS CITY (September 9, 2024) — The Philippines is set to make its mark at the Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) 2024, scheduled to take place from September 17-20, 2024, at the Malaysia International Trade and Exhibition Centre (MITEC) in Kuala Lumpur.

According to a recent update on the Facebook page of Halal Friendly Philippines, an initiative by the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), the Philippines will present a diverse array of halal-certified products. These offerings reflect the nation’s rich cultural heritage and commitment to high-quality standards.

“Discover a diverse range of halal-certified products and experience the quality and cultural richness that define Philippine offerings,” the post highlights.

The Philippine Pavilion at MITEC will serve as a showcase for the country’s expanding range of halal-friendly products and services. This participation underscores the DTI’s “Halal Friendly Philippines” initiative, which aims to bolster the halal industry in the country. The initiative focuses on promoting halal product certification, supporting businesses, fostering halal tourism, and educating stakeholders about halal standards.

In addition, the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has been proactive in advancing the halal industry as part of its economic and cultural development strategy. BARMM has been working to establish robust halal certification processes and provides support to local businesses to help them meet halal standards. The regional government also emphasizes halal tourism as a key component of its economic development plans.

Together, these efforts highlight the Philippines’ commitment to expanding its presence in the global halal market and showcasing its rich cultural heritage through high-quality halal products. (Gandhi C. Kinjiyo, BMN/BangsamoroToday)
