Bangsamoro Government Turns-Overs 100 Housing Units in Sulu
COTABATO CITY (May 16, 2024) — The Bangsamoro Government through the Ministry of Human Settlements and Development (MHSD) granted 100 housing units to families in Sulu in its efforts to enhance the quality of life for its citizens.
During a ceremonial event held on May 4, MHSD handed over the newly constructed houses to 50 families each in Barangay Pitogo in Kalinggalan Caluang Municipality and Barangay Tangkuan, Omar Municipality.
This initiative is part of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao’s (BARMM) comprehensive resettlement and rehabilitation program, aimed at providing secure and stable housing for its residents.
In a speech at the awarding ceremony in Indanan, MHSD Minister Atty. Hamid Aminoddin Barra emphasized the importance of transforming these houses into homes filled with tranquility, love, and compassion, in line with Islamic principles.
“We will turn over these houses to you, but it is you who will turn them into homes. It should embody the three requirements in the Islamic perspective: tranquility, love, and compassion,” Barra stated.
The event saw the participation of local leaders, including K. Caluang Mayor Nurshamier Halun and Panamao Mayor Al-Frazier Abdurajak, who both expressed their deep gratitude to BARMM for the initiative. They acknowledged the profound impact this housing project would have on their communities.
MHSD-Sulu Provincial Director Atty. Najira Hassan noted that this was not the first such event in Sulu, highlighting previous awarding ceremonies in Indanan. She extended her gratitude to the recipients and assured that more housing projects are planned for the province.
One of the beneficiaries, Julma Ablu, a mother of nine, shared her heartfelt appreciation to Bangsamoro Government, expressing optimism for a prosperous and thriving community in their new home.
In addition to the current housing awards, MHSD also initiated a new project, breaking ground for a 40,500,000-peso housing development in Capual, Omar. This project will provide 50 additional housing units, reinforcing BARMM’s commitment to improving the living conditions of its people and securing a brighter future for future generations. (Hasna U.
