COTABATO CITY (November 26, 2023) — The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim
Mindanao (BARMM) interim government headed by Chief Minister Ahod “Al-haj Murad” B. Ebrahim led the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of Kabuntalan bridge connecting with the newly created municipality of Pahamuddin in the Special Geographic Areas of SGA-BARMM with an amount of 180 million pesos on Thursday, November 23.
Chief Minister Ebrahim has said that the bridge is a symbol of peace and progress despite being once a field of battle between the government armed forces and the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).
The Chief Minister assured that the BARMM government will provide more infrastructure projects that shall, in turn, result to boost lasting economic impacts in the region positively.
Meanwhile, the Provincial Governor of Maguindanao del Norte Abdulraof “Gob Sam” A. Macacua joined Chief Minister Ebrahim in the groundbreaking ceremony of the construction of Kabuntalan bridge connecting with the newly created municipality of Pahamuddin in the Special Geographic Areas of SGA-BARMM.
Governor Macacua, said that the project is a critical component that connects the people as it plays a vital role not only in transportation, commerce and trade but more importantly, it brings people together, creating a sense of community and facilitating social interaction.
“We are creating a connection through this bridge. This bridge is not only a mere linkage from one place to another. It is a connection, a sense of soul to the constituents,” Governor Macacua said.
Present during the groundbreaking ceremony were local and provincial functionaries, Minister Arch’t. Eduard Uy Guerra of the Ministry of Public Works (MPW)—the agency that will implement the said project, Deputy Minister Abdulmaomit Tomawis and Northern Kabuntalan Mayor Datu Umbra Dilangalen.
If recalled, Municipality of Pahamuddin is one of the eight recently established municipalities under the Special Geographic Area Development Authority (SGADA). It covers the areas of Balacayon, Buricain, Datu Binasing, Datu Mantil, Kadingilan, Lower Pangangkalan, Libungan Torreta, Matilac, Patot, Upper Pangangkalan, Lower Baguer, and Simsiman, which were previously part of the municipality of Pigcawayan in the province of North Cotabato.
