LGU Gensan, CMO-ICCAD, NCMF, One Gensan Muslim Ummah host Istiqbal Ramadhan 2023
GENERAL SANTOS CITY (March 20, 2023) — The local government of General Santos City through the City Mayor’s Office – Integrated Cultural Communities Affairs Division (CMO-ICCAD), and One Gensan Muslim Ummah (OGMU) in collaboration with the National Commission on Muslim Filipinos – General Santos organized Istiqbal (Welcoming ) Ramadhan 2023 held on March 19, 2023 at Lagao Gymnasium, this city.
The event was aimed to educate the Muslim communities on the needed preparation for Ramadhan, the month of fasting, its virtues and health benefits.
Thousand members of the Moro tribes of the city attended the activity to gain knowledge from the lectures of prominent Islamic scholars (Ulama) who were graduates of prestigious Islamic universities in the Middle East.
The resource persons with their corresponding topics were Sheikh Abdulmalic Diron – Uri ng Tao sa Ramadhan, Sheikh Abdulkahar Musa – Important Rulings of Ramadhan, Dr. Alaien Pangolima – Health Benefits of Fasting, Sheikh Ahmad Nur – Paano ang Pagsalubong sa Ramadhan, Sheikh Abdulkhaliq Abtahi – Wisdom and Significance of Fasting, Sheikh Ibrahim Andang – Kababaihan sa Buwan ng Ramadhan.
Jocelyn Lambac-Kanda, CMO-ICCAD Division Chief, said the government recognizes how important that the citizens are spiritually inclined or have strong fear to the Almighty.
“For us to have good governance and create peaceful communities, we need spiritually inclined citizens who will work with sincere intentions, who are values-oriented, respectful and law-abiding people,” she explained.
She assured the audiences that CMO-ICCAD will continue to provide responsive programs and services for the Muslim constituents of the city.
The OGMU-organizing groups that assisted in the activity were Khairukom Qur’anic Institute, Maranao Alliance For Solidarity Integrity and Unity, Inc., Madaris Federation of General Santos, Maranao Employees and Businessmen Association, Salam Police Advocacy Group, Educational Research Center Inc., Muslim Religious Advisory Council, GSC Halal Agri-Fishery Council, Muslim Women of Gensan and Sarangani, Muslim Law Students Association – MSU-GSC, Mindanao Women Advocacy for Good Governance, Social Welfare Committee, Katiyakap, Inc., Hay-Atul Ulama, Bangasamo Communication Network – GSC, United Bangsamoro Justice Party – GSC, One Tawheed, Raja Buayan Bandar Committee, Dar Al Bayan Litahfidz Al Qur-An Al Kareem, and Rajah Buayan Bandar Women.
Youth groups of OGMU who contributed both their efforts and resources for the success of the event were the Federation of Student Body Organization Madaris Gensan (FOSBOM), Muslim Student Association – MSU Gensan (MUSA), Federation of Muslim Students Associations,Youth Association for Peace (YAP), and United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD).
NCMF-General Santos Directress Aida P Seddic expressed her appreciation to the concerted efforts of the different Muslim organizations for organizing the event.
She said that through unity, they were able to accomplish the important undertaking that is beneficial to the Muslim communities of the city.
