COTABATO CITY (February 16, 2023) — The Bangsamoro Chief Minister Ahod “Al Haj Murad” Ebrahim facilitated the reconciliation between the Ibay of Parang and Tomawis of Barira from the Iranun Municipalities of Maguindanao del Norte on Wednesday, February 15, 2023/ Rajab 24, 1444 AH held at the Bajau Conference Hall, Office of the Chief Minister, Cotabato City.
 
Chief Minister Ebrahim shared in his message the importance of unity in Islam. He further mentioned that, as peace-loving individuals, our relationship with one another should be as if it were a body. When one’s body aches, it affects all parts.
 
“Unang-una itong reconciliation is part of our major program within the BARMM, kasi nga nakita natin na maraming dati magkakasama, but dahil sa intervening situation lalong lalo na kung mayroong eleksyon, then nagkakaroon ng hindi pagkakaunawaan,” he said.
 
“We would like to inform everyone that this is a major policy of the BARMM government, ang paghanap ng paraan para magkaroon ng tunay na pagkakaisa, this is a holistic approach,” said Ebrahim.
 
The former allies have rekindled their friendship and promised to work together to promote peace and progress under the direction of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). There were no conditions for the reconciliation of the Tomawis and Ibay clans.
 
Dr. Ibrahim Ibay, a former mayor of Parang, represented the Ibay clan, and Barok Tomawis, a former mayor of Barira, represented the Tomawis clan both expressed their appreciation for the BARMM government’s efforts to unite the Bangsamoro people for development.
The reconciliation program also attended by Senior Minister Abdulraof “Sammy Al-Mansoor” Macacua, Education Minister Mohagher Iqbal, and Interior Local Government Minister Atty. Naguib Sinarimbo from the Bangsamoro Government.
 
Representatives from the Ibay family and the Parang local government, the Tomawis family and the Barira local government, and representatives from the security sector witnessed the reconciliation program. (Tu Alid Alfonso/ BangsamoroToday with report from BARMMChiefMinister) ###
