General Santos City Muslim Religious Advisory Council Condemnation Statement on the Bombing at Dimaporo Gymnasium in MSU-Marawi

The General Santos City Muslim Religious Advisory Council condemns in the strongest terms the bombing incident during a morning mass services at the Dimaporo Gymnasium in Mindanao State University Main Campus, Marawi City, on December 3, 2023 that killed four people and wounded several others.

This heinous act is against human and normal norms and is not grounded in any religious laws.

It is stated in the Holy Quran that “Whosoever kills a human being, it shall be as if he has killed all mankind, and whosoever saves the life of one, it shall be as if he had saved the life of all mankind” (Quran 5:32).

We call upon the public people to refrain from stereotyping any religious group as this evil act is not being condoned by any religion. Let us all remain united in the advocacy against violence.

We extend our condolences and sympathies to the families of the slain victims and may they find strength and patience in this unfortunate moment.

Further, we urge the authorities for a speedy response on this matter and bring the perpetrators to justice.
