Grand Sultanate of Talik urges traditional leaders to increase giving charity during Ramadhan
GENERAL SANTOS CITY (March 27, 2023) —The Paramount Sultan of the grand kingdom of Talik urged Moro traditional leaders to increase charity to the needy Muslims during the holy month of Ramadan.
His Majesty Sultan (Colonel) Datu Nasser B. Pendatun, Sr. Al Haj, the Paramount Sultan of the Royal House of the Kingdom of Talik-SOCSKSARGEN Darrusalam, said sharing the blessings received with fellow fasting Muslims, particularly those in need, is a good act to be done during Ramadhan.
“We should reach out to our brothers and sisters who need to work hard even if they are fasting just to earn money to buy food,” the paramount Sultan said.
He called upon the Datus and Bais in the Muslim communities within and outside the kingdom of Talik to share their resources with others in need, citing that during Ramadhan the blessing for every good deed done by a Muslim shall be rewarded by Allah in several folds.
“We should be thankful we have reached this month of Ramadhan, and one way of thanking Allahu ta’ala is to give food to the needy,” he said.
Sultan Nasser was a recipient of the Dakilang Ama ng Taon by the Gintong Parangal 2022 and Hero of the Year by Gawad Filipino for being a public servant and advocate of humanitarianism.
The award giving bodies also commended the Paramount Sultan for his philanthropic undertakings, particularly helping those in difficulty during the COVID-19 pandemic.
He distributed rice and other relief items to those who were affected by the pandemic both Muslim and Christians.
The traditional leader said posting over the outreach initiatives on social media would help remind others of their religious obligation, to give charity to brothers and sisters.
“Posting charitable acts on social media is not for popularity but to call the attention of others on their duty to his fellowmen,” he said.
Recently, the Sultanate of Talik together with Sultana Bhae Izashy Amor Mastura provided a free Iftar to a depressed Muslim community.
The Paramount Sultan also distributed sacks of rice, trays of eggs and assorted grocery items to his royal cabinet members to be shared with fasting families and relatives.
Fasting during Ramadhan is one of the five pillars of Islam. Ramadhan is also the period to reflect, repent, and increase the acts of worship to the Almighty. ### (Gandhi Kinjiyo/BMN/BangsamoroToday)
