BTA Week 2025 Kicks Off with Colorful Fun Run, Sportsfest Launch in Cotabato City

COTABATO CITY (August 3, 2025) — The Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) Parliament officially opened its annual “BTA Week 2025” celebrations with a vibrant “Color Fun Run” on August 2 at the Bangsamoro Government Center. Themed “Takbo Para Sa Kalusugan at Pagkakaisa” (Run for Health and Unity), the event brought together over 300 BTA officials and staff in a spirited show of wellness and solidarity.
Runners followed a designated route within the government complex, supported by marshals and medical staff to ensure everyone’s safety. The activity was led by Datu Jun M. Madrama, Director III of the Administrative and General Services Department, who emphasized the fun run’s goal to promote health, teamwork, and work-life balance among personnel.
“It also aims to strengthen camaraderie and unity among employees and practice a culture of work-life balance and collective motivation,” Madrama said.
Top finishers in both male and female categories were awarded PhP5,000, PhP3,000, and PhP1,500 for first, second, and third places, respectively. Participants also enjoyed raffle prizes and games after the run.
The fun run also marked the opening of the BTA Sportsfest, with Director Madrama leading the ceremonial torch lighting and athletes’ oath. Twelve teams—named after iconic Game of Thrones houses—will compete in various games including basketball, volleyball, badminton, chess, scrabble, darts, and pickleball.
Teams include House Stark, House Lannister, House Targaryen, House Baratheon, House Martell, House Greyjoy, House Tyrell, House Bolton, House Bronn, House Arryn, House Mormont, and House Tully.
Several BTA officials joined the opening, including Atty. Abdel Jamal R. Disangcopan (SCSS Director), Norhaya M. Abdul (Finance Director), Ahmad Ammak (Journal Division Chief), and Mohammadsaleh Usman (Records Chief).
The weeklong festivities aim to strengthen camaraderie across the BTA while encouraging a culture of active, healthy living. (Writer contributor: Gilmhar A. Lao, BMN/BangsamoroToday)
