MILF’s UBJP political party announces its official candidates in Special Geographic Area
COTABATO CITY (April 25, 2025) — The United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) officially announced its candidates for mayor and councilor in the Special Geographic Area (SGA) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) during a Proclamation Rally held on Thursday, April 24, at the Kadayangan Covered Court in Tumbras, Kadayangan, SGA.
Eight mayoral candidates representing the following towns in the SGA were introduced: Pahamudin, Nabalawag, Malidegao, Ligawasan, Old Kaabakan, Kapalawan, Kadayangan, and Tugunan.
The event was attended by citizens, supporters, and UBJP officials who aimed to strengthen unity and garner support for the party ahead of the upcoming 2025 elections.
Notable speakers at the rally included Hon. Datucan “Mohagher Iqbal” Abas, UBJP Vice President for Central Mindanao; Hon. Butch Malang, a Member of the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA); and Hon. Mohammad Kelie U. Antao, Chief Executive Officer of UBJP-SGA.
The UBJP said that this rally marks part of the preparations for the first regular elections in the SGA areas following their integration into the BARMM under the Bangsamoro Organic Law.
It added that holding the Proclamation Rally, the UBJP reaffirms its commitment to encouraging the Bangsamoro people to support the party that has consistently fought for their right to self-determination.
