COTABATO CITY (April 10, 2025) — The Ministry of Public Order and Safety (MPOS) in Basilan successfully facilitated the resolution of a long-standing rido (family feud) between two parties on April 7 in Isabela City.

The MPOS, through its Community Affairs Officers in Basilan, organized the mediation process to settle the ongoing dispute and promote harmony and understanding within the community.

During the mediation, former Vice Mayor Suwaib Maralil played a crucial role in fostering communication and maintaining a civil environment. Prominent local officials, including the Barangay Chairwoman of Lagayas in Tipo-Tipo and several Barangay Council members, attended the settlement proceedings.

This resolution demonstrates the commitment of local leaders to maintaining peace and order in the region. It serves as an excellent example of how mediation, rather than escalation, can effectively resolve conflicts.

Local officials are hopeful that this agreement will enhance community relations and lead to lasting peace.

The Ministry of Public Order and Safety continues to work towards resolving disputes amicably, emphasizing the importance of communication in the Province of Basilan. (USM OJT Student: Amera M. Basalon, BMN/Bangsamoro Today)
