Long-standing conflict in Maguindanao del Sur ends through Peaceful settlement
COTABATO CITY (August 28, 2024) — The Peace, Security, and Reconciliation Office (PSRO) under the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM) of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) has successfully facilitated the reconciliation of long-standing conflict and strife between two rival groups in Barangay Meta, Datu Unsay and Barangay Bialong, Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur.
The dispute resolution and reconciliation were successfully carried out at the municipal hall of Shariff Aguak, Maguindanao del Sur on Wednesday afternoon, August 27 resulting in the peaceful settlement of the conflict between the groups of Barangay Chairman Mohammad “Ais” Upam and Ali “Boy Trenta” Damensik of Barangay Bialong, Shariff Aguak, and Hadji Tunga Nacio and Brahim “Bra” B. Kaliong of Barangay Meta, Datu Unsay, of the said province.
The PSRO-OCM BARMM, led by Executive Director Anwar Alamada, acted as mediator in the said arrangement, in collaboration with the Local Government Unit of Shariff Aguak, MDS, Local Government of Datu Unsay, Maguindanao del Sur, Philippine National Police (PNP), and the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP).
The PSRO team is grateful to those people and groups who gave their time and expertise to the Rido settlement.
