COTABATO CITY (October 3, 2025) — The Provincial Local Government Unit (PLGU) of Maguindanao del Sur has reaffirmed its commitment to community well-being and educational development by supporting the Gulayan sa Paaralan program in Talitay, Buluan. This initiative is part of the province’s Convergence Framework for Education, Health, and Sanitation, which aims to integrate essential services for the improvement of local communities.

As part of the program, the PLGU distributed agricultural supplies to various schools to help establish and launch school gardens. These gardens are intended to serve as sustainable sources of fresh vegetables, promoting proper nutrition and healthy eating habits among students, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders in education.

“The Gulayan sa Paaralan is more than just a gardening activity,” said a PLGU representative. “It is a vital tool for teaching our children the importance of good nutrition and food security, as well as encouraging them to actively participate in building healthier communities,” it added.

In addition to its nutritional benefits, the program provides hands-on learning experiences for students, helping them understand basic agricultural practices and their role in ensuring food sustainability in their communities.

This initiative aligns with the province’s advocacy to GIVE HEART—a movement focused on building healthier, stronger, and more empowered communities across Maguindanao del Sur. (BMN/BangsamoroToday)
