UNYPAD Statement on the SC Ruling Excluding Sulu from BARMM
The United Youth for Peace and Development (UNYPAD) expresses deep sadness over the recent decision of the Supreme Court excluding the Province of Sulu from the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
We recognize the strong desire of many people in Sulu to remain part of BARMM, as they see it as a symbol of hope, peace, and progress for the entire Bangsamoro homeland. Their dedication and love for the region is undeniable.
At this crucial juncture, UNYPAD appeals to the people of Sulu, especially the officers and members of the UNYPAD Sulu Chapter, as well as all Bangsamoro to remain calm and steadfast. It is important to exercise patience and wisdom during these challenging times. We are all guided by the belief that Allah, the Most Merciful and the Best Planner, knows what is best for us all. While this ruling may bring feelings of disappointment and uncertainty, we must trust that in Allah’s grand design, He holds the future of Sulu and the Bangsamoro in His hands.
We urge the people of Sulu not to lose hope. The shared struggles and aspirations for a just and peaceful Bangsamoro remain. This decision should not be seen as the end of our journey toward unity and self-determination, but rather as another chapter in the long and complex story of our people. We have weathered far greater challenges before, and we have always emerged stronger, united, and determined to pursue peace and development for all Bangsamoro, regardless of territorial lines.
We also call upon all leaders and stakeholders to engage in dialogue and consultation, seeking peaceful resolutions that honor the voices and aspirations of the people of Sulu Now, more than ever, it is imperative that we work collectively for the continued progress of the Bangsamoro, ensuring that no one is left behind.
UNYPAD remains committed to peace, unity, and the empowerment of the Bangsamoro people. We stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters in Sulu and will continue to advocate for inclusive governance, moral leadership, and a peaceful resolution to the challenges we face.
Let us continue to believe in the promise of peace, guided by the principles of justice, compassion, and trust in Allah’s divine wisdom.
May Allah, the Most Compassionate, guide us all in these trying times.
