MBHTE Basic Education Director General Salik, Jr. Represents BARMM at Youth Impact ’10 Years of Learning’ Partners Summit in Botswana

MAUN, BOTSWANA (June 28, 2024) — Abdullah P. Salik, Jr., Director General of Basic Education at the Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE), BARMM Philippines, participated as a distinguished panelist at the Youth Impact ’10 Years of Learning’ Partners Summit held from June 24-26, 2024, in Maun, Botswana.
 
The summit, themed “10 Years of Learning,” brought together global leaders from governments, NGOs, researchers, and donors to exchange insights and strategies for advancing youth-focused health and education programs worldwide. The event included panel discussions on translating evidence into action, building global partnerships, achieving impact at scale in health and education, ongoing innovation and learning approaches, and prospects for the next decade.
 
Director General Salik, Jr. represented BARMM Philippines on the panel titled “Global Partnerships – Perspectives from Government Leaders Around the World,” moderated by Mariel Bayangos, Education & Partnerships Specialist at Youth Impact. Alongside counterparts from Namibia and South Africa, Director General Salik, Jr. contributed valuable insights into fostering effective governmental collaborations to enhance educational outcomes for youth.
 
During the panel’s Q&A and subsequent group discussions, Director General Salik, Jr. highlighted BARMM’s commitment to leveraging partnerships for sustainable development in education. His contributions underscored the region’s proactive approach to integrating evidence-based practices and innovative solutions to address educational challenges.
 
Youth Impact, the host organization, is known for its youth-led initiatives that promote evidence-based health and education interventions globally. With ongoing partnerships in over 20 countries, including active collaborations with governments in Botswana, Namibia, South Africa, and the Philippines, Youth Impact continues to drive impactful change by empowering young people to thrive. BARMM-MBHTE is set to pilot two education interventions in partnership with Youth Impact in the school year 2024-2025.

Also in collaboration with Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), mEducation will be piloted in 200 schools while 2 schools will participate in the TaRL pilot. In addition to this, Youth Impact is also supporting MBHTE in implementing evidence-based education strategies for the implementation of the Bangsamoro Contextualized Curriculum.
