COTABATO CITY (May 9, 2024) — The Ministry of Basic, Higher and Technical Education (MBHTE) Director General for Basic Education Abdullah “Junn” P. Salik Jr., and Planning Chief Jourdan Pangilan visited the school community of Tamar Elementary School (TES) in Talayan, Maguindanao on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.

Tamar Elementary School is the catchment school to seven (7) Abot Kaalaman sa Pamilyang Bangsamoro (AKAP-Bangsamoro) Program and two (2) LGU-supported learning centers in the municipality of Talayan, Maguindanao del Sur.

MBHTE ODGBE Facebook page post said that Director General Salik encouraged the barangay leaders and parents to continue their support to the learners to ensure their continued enrollment in the coming school year. He emphasized that public schools and learning centers will do well in delivering accessible and inclusive quality education with the active participation and support of local governments and parents.

The MBHTE Planning Chief Pangilan, on the other hand, assured the TES and stakeholders of the support of Minister Iqbal to learners and the school community. Pangilan highlighted the school financing through the school’s School Maintenance and Other Operating Expenses (MOOE), in-service training, Project Iqbal, school feeding, and chairs among others as the key programs continuously delivered by the MBHTE to public schools. He also assured that MBHTE is supporting the transitioning of learning centers into primary school.

MBHTE said that AKAP-Bangsamoro learning centers in barangays Fukol and Lanting are planned to be transitioned to primary school in the coming school year. Support to other learning centers especially to cater to indigenous peoples will be continued especially with community and LGU support.

According to the report the barangay officials and parents have strongly expressed their commitment to support the operations of the learning centers and the catchment school.

AKAP-Bangsamoro is one of the flagship programs of MBHTE-BARMM which primarily aims to provide access and deliver quality education to K to 3 learners in Geographically Isolated and Disadvantaged Areas (GIDA) supported by the Australian Government through Pathways to Peace in Mindanao, BRAC Philippines, with Consortium of Bangsamoro Civil Society (CBCS) as local partners, local government units, and the community.
