Governor Macacua call for unity despite of various allegations on his appointment

COTABATO CITY (April 12, 2023) – Maguindanao del Norte Governor Abdulraof A. Macacua called for unity, urging critiques to refrain from showing disrespect to the decision of President Ferdinand “Bong Bong” Marcos, Jr.

Macacua made his statement during the 1st Press Conference held in Episcopal Bldg. (former NCMF office near Al-Nor complex), Sinsuat Avenue, RH 9, this city.

The group opposing his appointment is being led by Governor Meriam S. Mangudadatu of Maguindanao del Sur who has expressed her negative views on Macacua’s designation as OIC-Governor of Maguindanao del Norte.

The lady governor questioned the decision of President Marcos Jr. on the conduct of appointing Macacua as the governor in the newly created province of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim, Mindanao (BARMM).

“We need to give our full support to President Marcos Jr., instead of questioning his decision. This is to consider also that the president of the republic (and he) is not only focusing in the problems that we have in the Maguindanao but including those concerns in the international community like with the China, United State (US) and the Enhanced Defense Cooperation Agreement (EDCA),” Macacua said.

The Maguindanao del Norte governor appealed to the general public to show respect to the President and stop publishing statements that will demoralize the country’s leader and cited that President Marcos has credibility, integrity and dignity which is a well – known in the international community.

The governor emphasized that the decision still anchored to the two parties that are involved in the peace process where the international community is still looking for the sustainability of whatever the peace talks has achieved.

He also asked critiques to stop throwing accusation that there was giving of money to the members of the cabinet of the President for them to work on his installation as a governor of the said province.

“Also do not underestimate the capacity of the president in terms of his decision making because he was elected by 30 million of people of this nation. For whoever questioning the legalities of this matter then, the Supreme Court has the right to determine. The president is definite to his decision in addressing the injustices happened before during his father’s time when Martial Law conducted in Mindanao. He is definite to give solutions to the past problems through realizing a meaningful development, establishing peace and harmony to the country and opportunity to progress as he envisions to become a president of the republic,” he explained.

The governor added that the relationship of the government is anchored on the peace agreement in which there is a need to do sacrifices both for the parties considering that the very challenge is how to sustain the fruit of the peace process.

“Kailangan natin magkaisa dahil walang mangyayari kung magpapatuloy tayo na hindi magkaisa (We must unite because nothing will happen to us if we continue being disunited).” ### (Faydiyah Samanodi Akmad, BMN/BangsamoroToday, Photo by Nhor-Hamen S. Aplal & Usop M. Manggamanan – BMN-USM BSIR Intern)
