CM Macacua Vows to Double Development Funds for LGUs Complying with Moral Governance Standards
COTABATO CITY (August 30, 2025)– Chief Minister Abdulraof A. Macacua has pledged stronger support for local government units (LGUs) under his administration, announcing a significant boost in development funding during his speech at the 2025 Local Government Peace and Development Summit on Thursday.
Macacua said that he has directed the Ministry of Finance, Budget and Management, in coordination with the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government, to design a financial assistance program specifically for LGUs in the region.
“Bilang inyong Chief Minister at kasalukuyang MILG Minister, personal kong nakita kung gaano kahalaga ang ating mga LGUs bilang unang takbuhan ng ating mga mahal na Bangsamoro. Kaya sa Local Government Peace and Development Summit 2025, ipinangako ko sa ating mga LGUs na palalakasin sila, isusulong ang inklusibong pamamahala, at pagtibayin pa ang Moral Governance,” he said.
Under this plan, development funds will be doubled for LGUs that meet the established standards of moral governance.
“Upang mas maging makabuluhan, dodoblehin natin ang kanilang development funds kapag sila ay tapat sa pamantayan ng moral governance—dahil naniniwala ako na ang bawat piso ng pamahalaan ay dapat magbunga ng tiwala, katarungan, at kapayapaan tungo sa #MasMatatagNaBangsamoro,” Macacua said further.
He emphasized that the program aims not only to provide funding for local projects, but also to ensure that resources are effectively used to improve quality of life, enhance service delivery, and build long-term trust between the government and the people. (BMN/BangsamoroToday)
