DAVAO CITY (August 21, 2025) — Vice Governor Ustadz Hisham S. Nando of Maguindanao del Sur served as guest of honor during the closing of the School of Peace and Democracy training for high-ranking officers of the Bangsamoro Islamic Armed Forces (BIAF) – Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF), held on August 16 to 21 at Go Hotels, Davao City.

The event gathered officers from different base commands under the Central Mindanao Front and Eastern Mindanao Front. The program, facilitated by the Development Academy of the Bangsamoro and funded by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), aimed to equip BIAF leaders with the skills needed to face the challenges of political transition.

Vice Governor Nando, who managed the Development Academy of the Bangsamoro from 2021 until his election on May 12, 2025, emphasized in his message the continuing role of the Bangsamoro struggle.

“From armed struggle to political transition, towards a regular government, our Jihad continues. As Mujahideen and Bangsamoro leaders, unity and community supremacy must always be our priority. Together, we stand as assets of peace, guided by the GIVE HEART flagship program of Governor Hon. Datu Ali M. Midtimbang where Peace and Order remain a top agenda,” he said.

“With full support from the Maguindanao del Sur Government, let us be capacitated, united, and prepared for the challenges ahead,” Nando said.

His words drew attention to the evolving responsibilities of former combatants as peacebuilders, underscoring unity and capacity-building as essential foundations for a stronger Bangsamoro government. (PR, BMN/BangsamoroToday)
