Privatization of Cotabato City Integrated Public Transport Terminal Discussed

COTABATO CITY (August 5, 2025) — The City Planning and Development Coordinator (CPDC) presented the proposed operational model for the Cotabato City Integrated Public Transport Terminal (CCIPTT), should it be managed by the private sector.
It was clarified that the initiative would follow a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) framework. Under this arrangement, the terminal would remain under the ownership of the Local Government of Cotabato City, while operations would be handled by a private entity.
Businesses or stalls that intend to operate within the terminal will still be required to register through the City Government. City Councilor Atty. Anwar Malang emphasized that all systems must be properly organized and finalized before the terminal becomes operational.
While the relocation may require some adjustments from Cotabato City residents—due to the distance between the new and existing terminals—it is seen as a necessary step to address increasing traffic congestion in the downtown area.
Officials believe that decentralizing economic activity will help promote balanced development across all parts of Cotabato City. (Tu Alid Alfonso, BMN/BangsamoroToday)
