BARMM Chief Minister Macacua Endorses ₱13.2-Billion Infrastructure Projects at BEDC Meeting

COTABATO CITY (June 29, 2025) — Chief Minister Abdulraof “Sammy Gambar” Macacua, serving as the Chair of the Bangsamoro Economic and Development Council (BEDC), presided over the 1st Special BEDC Meeting for Calendar Year 2025 at Bajau Hall in Cotabato City. During the meeting, he endorsed the ₱13.2-billion Patikul-Jolo Circumferential Road project.

This project is expected to significantly enhance connectivity across the Sulu archipelago. The council also discussed proposed water supply and sanitation projects throughout Sulu and reviewed the latest financial report on the Bangsamoro Special Development Fund (SDF).

“These are more than just figures or plans. They represent strategic commitments to deepen the dividends of peace, enhance public service, and strengthen our regional economy,” stated Chief Minister Macacua.

The meeting prioritized high-impact infrastructure and development initiatives critical to the region’s sustained growth.

The BEDC serves as the highest planning and policymaking body for economic and development programs in the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM). Its composition includes:

– Chairperson: Chief Minister
– Vice Chairperson: BPDA Director General
– Members:
a) Speaker, Bangsamoro Parliament
b) Majority Floor Leader, Bangsamoro Parliament
c) Minority Floor Leader, Bangsamoro Parliament
d) Executive Secretary (or its equivalent)
e) Minister, Ministry of Finance, Budget and Management
f) Chairpersons of the Five (5) Sectoral Committees
g) All Provincial Governors in the BARMM
h) All City Mayors in the BARMM
i) Five (5) Private Sector Representatives within the BARMM
– Technical Secretariat: BPDA

Through its discussions, the Council ensures that infrastructure and development investments align with the principles of Moral Governance and the long-term peace and development agenda of the region.
