MILF Chairman Al-Haj Murad Attends the 51st Session of the OIC Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul
COTABATO CITY (June 23, 2025) — Chairman Al-Haj Murad Ebrahim of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) attended the 51st session of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) Council of Foreign Ministers in Istanbul, Türkiye, on June 21-22, following an official invitation from OIC Secretary-General H.E. Hissein Brahim Taha.
This year’s theme, “The OIC in a Transforming World,” underscores the critical role of the OIC in addressing recent global developments that impact the geopolitical stability and security of the Muslim Ummah worldwide.
A day before the official opening of the session, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Türkiye, Hakan Fidan, met with Chairman Ebrahim to discuss updates on the current state of the peace process in Mindanao. During this meeting, Chairman Ebrahim expressed his gratitude to the Turkish government and its people for their continued support of dialogue aimed at achieving genuine peace and development in the Bangsamoro region.
Throughout the session, Chairman Ebrahim introduced the MILF movement to representatives and dignitaries from various OIC member states, including the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, Syria, Kuwait, Indonesia, Malaysia, Uganda, and Bangladesh, during networking breaks.
Reaffirming the importance of the Bangsamoro struggle and the right to self-determination, Chairman Ebrahim called for renewed international participation in the Bangsamoro peace process.
Other members of the MILF delegation accompanying Chairman Ebrahim included Ustadz Mohammad S. Yacob, a member of the MILF Central Committee; Atty. Sha Elijah B. Dumama-Alba, a member of the MILF Central Committee Secretariat; and Hamsur Mama.
The MILF is strongly committed to the faithful and timely implementation of the Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro, with the hope that it will serve as a shining example of unity and success through peace processes. (Tu Alid Alfonso, BMN/BangsamoroToday)
