MILF Welcomes Senate President Escudero’s Support to Push Through with the Bangsamoro Parliamentary Election
COTABATO CITY (June 21, 2025) — The Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) conveys its sincere appreciation to Senate President Francis “Chiz” Escudero for his clear and courageous stand in affirming that the first Bangsamoro Parliamentary election must proceed on October 13, 2025 and should not be postponed again. We resonate with the Senate President’s principled declaration that proceeding with the scheduled election “will be our gift to our Muslim brothers and sisters so that they can choose their leaders who will be accountable for their actions and not beholden to the Palace, to the administration who appointed them.”
As a revolutionary organization that has signed a peace agreement with the Philippine government, the MILF remains steadfast in fulfilling its commitments underthe decommissioning and normalization process. As a demonstration of our sincerity to pursue lasting peace and meaningful change in the Bangsamoro Region, we have transformed into an active non-violent social movement that is committed to democracy and rule of law.
With over three months to go before the conduct of the first parliamentary election, the MILF embraces this pivotal opportunity to shift the Bangsamoro strugglefrom bullets to ballots.
The MILF calls upon the National Government and the Commission on Elections to prepare and mobilize all resources to ensure a peaceful, orderly, fair and credible election this coming October 13, 2025.
