MILF Chairman Murad Joins Global Peace Workshop in Turkey, Highlights Bangsamoro Gains

COTABATO CITY (June 21, 2025) — Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF) Chairman and United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) President Al Haj Murad Ebrahim joined national and regional leaders in an international workshop on peacebuilding titled “Moro Peace Process: Conflict Resolution and Mediation” held in Turkey.
The event was organized by the Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH) in collaboration with the strategic research center INSAMER. It brought together peace advocates, experts, and leaders to revisit the Moro peace journey and examine strategies to sustain peace in post-conflict communities like the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).
This was announced through a post on the official Facebook page of MILF Chairman Murad, highlighting the significance of the gathering in reaffirming international support for the Bangsamoro peace process and its broader implications for global peacebuilding efforts.
The Humanitarian Relief Foundation (IHH), which co-organized the workshop, has played a vital role in the Bangsamoro peace process, notably as a credible international observer and mediator during the negotiation stages. Beyond the talks, the IHH has provided continuous support in implementing peace agreements, reinforcing its commitment to long-term peace and development in the region.
During the forum, Chairman Murad underscored the importance of global solidarity in sustaining peace, advancing inclusive governance, and defending the rights of the Bangsamoro people. He emphasized the value of such workshops in fostering meaningful dialogue and sharing international peacebuilding experiences.
The MILF, once the largest Moro revolutionary group, has transitioned into a key partner in peace and governance after signing the 2014 Comprehensive Agreement on the Bangsamoro (CAB) with the Philippine government.
The historic deal ended decades of armed conflict in Mindanao and paved the way for the establishment of the BARMM, now governed by the Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA), where the MILF plays a central role in shaping the region’s future.(Gandhi C. Kinjiyo, BMN/BangsamoroToday)
