COTABATO CITY (May 28, 2025) — Six community-based organizations from Talitay, Maguindanao del Norte, received financial support on May 26, 2025. This assistance was provided through the Resilient Livelihood Development (RLD) Project, a collaboration between the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) and the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries, and Agrarian Reform (MAFAR) at Haraya Hall, AlNor Hotel in Cotabato City.

Parliament Member Atty. Ambolodto, MNSA, highlighted that the initiative aims to support conflict-affected communities, particularly women and internally displaced persons (IDPs), in establishing and enhancing their climate-resilient agricultural and food processing livelihoods.

The Talitay CBOs that received financial assistance include the Resilient Association of Agriculture in Pageda, Sama Sama Sa Kinabukasan Agri-Farming Livelihood, Pageda Agricultural Livelihood Association, Manggay Livelihood Association, Agricultural Product Association, and Magapas Agricultural Farm Product Association. This collective support from various agencies underscores a united effort for this initiative.

According to Lionel Dabbadie, FAO Representative in the Philippines, this project is focused not only on food security but also on social justice. He emphasized that it is about more than just livelihood; it is about leadership and the future of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

MAFAR Minister Abunawas Maslamama stated that this assistance is directed towards communities affected by long-standing displacement. He noted that investing in the people is also an investment in peace.

The project was made possible with the support of the office of Bangsamoro Transition Authority (BTA) interim Parliament Member Atty. Ambolodto. MP Ambolodto commended the FAO for strengthening agricultural support for women and youth in the communities.

The lawmaker remarked that FAO demonstrates the potential benefits of enhanced support, especially since the products sold under the collective brand ‘Bai The Best’ reflect the identity, quality, and resilience of Bangsamoro women.

The RLD project is supported by the Government of Australia through the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT) and is jointly implemented by FAO and the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).

The Talitay CBOs are among the first groups to receive Halal certification, an important milestone in enhancing product credibility and expanding market reach, as noted by MP Ambolodto.Community-based organizations (CBOs) in Maguindanao del Norte receive financial assistance from the Bangsamoro Government.
