Chief Minister Macacua Casts His Vote, Renews Call for Clean and Honest Elections

COTABATO CITY (May 12, 2025) — Chief Minister Abdulraof “Sammy Gambar” A. Macacua arrived at his designated polling station this morning at Gambar Elementary School in Kabuntalan, Maguindanao del Norte, to fulfill his civic duty and join other voters in the national and local elections taking place today.
He reaffirmed his previous appeal to the public and to election authorities to uphold the principles of integrity and fairness in this democratic process. Ahead of the elections, Chief Minister Macacua issued a public message urging his fellow Bangsamoro citizens to vote conscientiously. “Choose wisely. Reflect carefully. Vote not just for personalities, but also for principles, vision, and genuine service,” he stated in a message released by his office on May 10.
Earlier, United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP) President Ahod Balawag Ebrahim Al Haj made a similar call for voters across the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) to participate responsibly in today’s voting.
Meanwhile, the Chief Minister also called on the Commission on Elections (COMELEC) and security forces to carry out their mandates with fairness and transparency. “Let this election be a true expression of democracy—free, peaceful, and honest. Democracy thrives when we all do our part,” he emphasized.
As he cast his vote, the Chief Minister once again underscored that “democracy in the Bangsamoro is not only alive but is also maturing through peaceful political participation and principled leadership.”
As the BARMM continues its transition from a revolutionary movement to a functioning autonomous government, Macacua hopes his message resonates as a deeper call to protect the democratic gains in the region. He reiterated to the Bangsamoro constituency that “real change begins not just with the casting of a ballot, but with upholding the values of Moral Governance at every step of the process.” (PR, BMN/BangsamoroToday)
