COTABATO CITY (April 25, 2025) — The Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM) is taking decisive action to revolutionize healthcare access for all residents, spearheaded by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

On March 27, the MOH officially announced a groundbreaking investment of P62.1 million in vital medical assets. This significant funding, sourced from the 2024 Transitional Development Impact Fund (TDIF) and additional contributions from Members of Parliament (MPs), encompasses one sea ambulance, fifteen land ambulances, and five vehicles designated for the transportation of deceased individuals.

Moreover, the allocation includes essential medical assistance grants aimed at strengthening various health facilities throughout the region, according to the health ministry.

MOH Minister Dr. Kadil Sinolinding Jr. expressed his gratitude to the MPs for their instrumental role in securing these critical resources, highlighting that this achievement reflects a powerful commitment to enhancing the lives of BARMM residents.

Anisa Matuan, MOH Chief Planning Officer and TDIF Coordinator, underscored the government’s unwavering dedication to fortifying the healthcare system, especially in underserved and remote areas. The introduction of new ambulances and medical support will ensure that even the most isolated communities gain access to life-saving services, effectively tackling transportation barriers that have historically hampered timely medical interventions.

Additionally, the initiative enhances the Tulong Medical Assistance program, providing vital financial support to impoverished patients struggling with hospitalization and medication costs.

With these strategic improvements, communities throughout BARMM can anticipate significantly faster emergency response times, reduced mortality rates, and a substantial elevation in the overall quality of healthcare. (USM OJT Student: Amera M. Basalon, BMN/Bangsamoro Today)
