MSSD Develops Gender-Responsive GAD Agenda in Davao City

COTABATO CITY (April 16, 2025) — The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) held a two-day workshop in Davao City on April 14-15, 2025, to formulate its Gender and Development (GAD) Agenda. Key personnel participated to ensure all programs were gender-responsive and promote gender mainstreaming.
Director-General Atty. Mohammad Muktadir Ahmad Estrella emphasized the need for gender-responsive programs that extend beyond budget allocation, stressing the importance of internal gender responsiveness within MSSD. Atty. Anna Liza Mones, Chief of Staff, highlighted the necessity of understanding the purpose behind initiatives to improve their effectiveness.
Participants discussed critical gender issues, including violence against women, legal barriers, and gender stereotypes. The workshop guided integrating gender perspectives into development strategies.
In her closing remarks, Atty. Raissa H. Jajurie, Minister of MSSD, expressed hope that the workshop would institutionalize gender considerations in program design and internal governance. “Transforming MSSD into a gender-responsive agency is where the real work lies,” she said.
The event included division heads, directors, MSSD officials, and members of the Gender Focal Point System. (USM OJT Student: Amera M. Basalon, BMN/Bangsamoro Today)
