COTABATO CITY (April 11, 2025) — The Ministry of Social Services and Development (MSSD) is conducting a comprehensive monitoring and inspection of 99 newly repaired and rehabilitated Child Development Centers (CDCs), along with 9 newly constructed CDCs that were affected by Severe Tropical Storm Paeng in October 2022.

This inspection covers areas in Maguindanao del Sur and Maguindanao del Norte and is scheduled to take place from April 7 to April 11, 2025. The goal of the monitoring is to verify the completion and quality of the building, maintenance, and restoration projects funded by the Bangsamoro Government’s Office of the Chief Minister (OCM), according to MSSD officials.

As of April 9, the monitoring team has already examined CDCs in Datu Anggal Midtimbang, Guindulungan, North Upi, South Upi, Ampatuan, and Rajah Buayan. The current focus of inspection includes CDCs in Datu Salibo, Datu Saudi Ampatuan, and Datu Montawal. MSSD also announced that their team will be traveling to Sultan Kudarat, Matanog, and Northern Kabuntalan in the coming days.

The monitoring and inspection team consists of engineers from the OCM, auditors from the Commission on Audit (COA)-BARMM, MSSD program coordinators, and personnel from the Planning and Development Division.

This initiative is part of MSSD’s ongoing efforts to improve the quality and effectiveness of CDCs in the region. The Ministry aims to ensure that children continue to receive early childhood education and care in safe and nurturing environments by closely monitoring these centers. (USM OJT Student: Amera M.
