COTABATO CITY (April 8, 2025) — The Office for Other Bangsamoro Communities (OOBC), in collaboration with the Bangsamoro Multimedia Network (BMN) Inc., conducted a two-day Multimedia Training Workshop at the Conference Room II, BPDA Building, BGC, Cotabato City on April 7-8, 2025.

The primary objective of the workshop was to equip OOBC employees with valuable skills for documenting office programs and enhancing direct communication with the Bangsamoro people, particularly those residing outside the core territory of the Bangsamoro region.

This initiative follows the recent signing of a Memorandum of Agreement between OOBC and BMN on March 20, which marks the launch of the second season of the “Bangsamoro Ka, Saan Ka Man” talk show, accessible via the Bangsamoro Multimedia Network and the OOBC’s social media platforms.

The workshop commenced with an engaging session on “News Writing” led by Tu Alid Alfonso, Chairman of BMN. He emphasized the importance of addressing the 5 W’s and 1 H in news writing to create a comprehensive narrative. “In writing news, we must answer the 5 W’s and 1 H to form a complete story,” he stated. Alfonso also revealed that a well-crafted lead should present information in order of importance, prioritizing significant details first.

Faydiyah S. Akmad, BMN’s Executive Director, facilitated a session on Script Writing, where she highlighted the necessity of blending imagination with factual storytelling. “Creating written documents involves not just your imagination but also the responsibility to convey factual narratives to your audience,” she remarked.

Further enriching the workshop, Mosid A. Kadir, a senior videographer and photography expert at BMN, delivered insights on Basic Photography and Photojournalism, demonstrating various camera types and shot compositions.

On the second day, Saddam A. Tambungalan, Secretary General of BMN and an IT expert discussed “Social Media Engagement,” focusing on effective strategies for reaching audiences online.

Participants expressed their gratitude for the workshop, finding the knowledge and practical tips provided useful for their professional development. “The story must have substance. It’s ‘Quantity with Quality.’ A story without meaning is meaningless,” shared Norhan B. Hadji Abdullah, reflecting on the discussions.

Concluding the workshop, OOBC Executive Director Noron S. Andan emphasized the importance of creating informative content about OOBC and its initiatives for the Bangsamoro constituents, particularly those in non-BARMM areas.

The two-day Training Workshop conducted by OOBC and BMN successfully concluded, with participants eager to apply their newfound skills in their future endeavors. (Written by USM OJT Students: Amera M. Basalon, Melody N. Flores, Bai Onamayda P. Dilanggalen, Melody A. Bantolo, BMN/Bangsamoro Today)
