BMN hosts Social Media Training for partner organizations in preparation for 2025 elections
COTABATO CITY (December 4, 2024) – The Bangsamoro Multimedia Network (BMN) successfully conducted a two-day Advanced Social Media Training for Civil Society Organization (CSO) for implementing partners at Paragon Hotel and Restaurant on Don TV Juliano Ave, this city on December 3-4. This training aimed to enhance the digital communication skills of participating organizations in preparation for the upcoming May 12, 2025 National, Local, and Bangsamoro Parliamentary elections.
Participants included representatives from the Teduray Lambangian Women’s Organization, United Youth for Peace and Development, United Voices for Peace Network (UVPN Inc.), Hirayang Kabataan, Maguindanaon Development Foundation Inc., Tiyakap Kalilintad Inc., MBHTE Education Facility Section, and Alhuffaz Charity Foundation in Southern Philippines Inc. The training focused on effective social media engagement strategies, content creation, photography skills, proper archiving, social media cards, poster editing, and community engagement to empower these organizations in their advocacy efforts and voter education campaigns.
This program is part of the Activate Bangsamoro Phase 4 Project, supported by The Asia Foundation, the UK Government, and the British Embassy in Manila. The initiative aims to strengthen civic participation and ensure marginalized voices are heard during the electoral process.
BMN Executive Director Faydiyah S. Akmad stated that before the training, a capacity needs assessment was conducted for the implementing partners, which formed the training content. “As part of our task in this activity, we aim to provide coaching and mentoring sessions for the CSO implementing partners to enable them to maximize the use of social media platforms in reaching and engaging online communities on voter education and election monitoring,” she said.
She expressed gratitude for the active participation of attendees that contributed to the program’s success. Executive Director Akmad also acknowledged the presence of staff from The Asia Foundation, including Al-nur Mampen, Rodel Cruz Jr., and Ma. Josephine Therese Emily G. Teves, who supported the initiative.
