COTABATO CITY (August 6, 2024) — The Bangsamoro Multimedia Network (BMN) Inc. and the Office of the Other Bangsamoro Communities (OOBC), an attached office of the Office of Chief Minister Hon. Ahod Balawag Ebrahim, have formalized their collaboration through a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) signed on July 30, 2024. The signing took place at the BMN Office in Datu Balabaran, Tamontaka Mother, Cotabato City.

The agreement was signed by Faydiyah Samanodi Akmad, Executive Director of BMN, and Noron Andan, Executive Director of OOBC. They were joined by their respective witnesses: Sahara A. Saban, BMN Finance Officer, and Asnain, OOBC Staff.

The MOA outlines a strategic partnership aimed at promoting the initiatives, mandates, programs, and services of the Office of the Chief Minister (OCM) and relevant ministries to communities located outside the core areas of the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The collaboration focuses on using multimedia platforms to disseminate information and educate both BARMM residents and those in neighboring areas about the developments and plans of the OCM.

This partnership aims to demonstrate that the benefits of the Bangsamoro peace process extend beyond the core regions, ensuring that all Bangsamoro communities, wherever they are located, are included in the development efforts of BARMM.

The OOBC’s jurisdiction includes Zamboanga City, Zamboanga Sibugay, Davao City, Oriental Mindoro, Sarangani, South Cotabato, General Santos City, Puerto Princesa in Palawan, and other adjacent areas.

Section 4 of Republic Act 11054 or the Bangsamoro Organic Law which established the BARMM emphasizes the BARMM’s commitment to promoting the well-being of the Bangsamoro people, including those residing outside the BARMM. It underlines the role of the BARMM in safeguarding and advancing the interests of the Bangsamoro. (BMN/BangsamoroToday)
