Long rivals in Sultan Kudarat Province Commander Stallion and Commander Mutin Ali end their Rido
COTABATO CITY (April 25, 2024) – Two reformed rival Moro commanders, Datu Nasrullah Ibrahim Mama, alias Commander Stallion, and MNLF Commander Sultan Datu Mutin Ali, have finally reconciled. The historic agreement was forged through the collaborative efforts of MILF-AHJAG, PSRO MILF-CCCH, AFP, and PNP, signaling a significant step towards peace and stability in the region.
The reconciliation between the two commanders was facilitated by MILF-AHJAG Chairman Anwar Alamada, and also the Executive Director of Peace, Security, and Reconciliation Office (PSRO) under the Office of the Chief Minister Ahod “Alhaj Murad” Ebrahim and MILF-CCCH Chairman and SGADA Administrator Butch Malang , alongside with military and local government representatives.
PSRO Executive Director Alamada emphasized that the agreement is a crucial component of the conflict management solution between the two groups.
Alamada said that the rift between Commander Stallion and Commander Mutin Ali was merely a misunderstanding, which has now been effectively addressed through dialogue and cooperation. Both parties have committed to implementing and adhering to the agreed ceasefire, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing peace process.
“Nagkasundo ang dalawang panig na kapwa ipatupad at sundin ang napagkasunduan na tigil putokan”, PSRO told on its post at social media.
The reconciliation of their Rido was held at the 7IB Infantry Battalion 6ID, PA in Barangay Kapaya, Isulan, Sultan Kudarat Province on Sunday, April 7, 2024. Rido accordingly is a Meranao term commonly used in the Southern part of the Philippines to refer to clan feuds. It is considered one of the major problems in Mindanao because, apart from numerous casualties, Rido has caused destruction of property, crippled local economies, and displaced families.
The accord underscores the importance of dialogue and reconciliation in resolving conflicts and fostering lasting peace in the region. The successful reconciliation between Commander Stallion and Commander Mutin Ali serves as a beacon of hope for future collaborations and demonstrates the power of diplomacy and mediation in resolving long-standing disputes.
As the region moves forward, it is hoped that this historic agreement will pave the way for greater stability and prosperity for all communities involved. (Hasna U. Bacol, BMN/BangsamoroToday)
