Bangsamoro lawyers initiate Iftar program for Markadz

COTABATO CITY (April 8, 2023) – The Integrated Bar and Bangsamoro Parliament in Partnership with Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Cotabato Chapter initiated giving Iftar and gifts under the Adopt a Markadz/Madrasah, Orphanages, and Charitable Institution Program held at Ribat Islamic Orphanage Center, Tamontaka, Brgy. Datu Balabaran, Cotabato City on Thursday, April 6, 2023.


Key officers who are present in the activity were Atty. Ysnaira A. Ibrahim, President of IBP Cotabato City, Sheikh Abdulhadi Daguit, LSO-IV from the Office of MP Mohagher M. Iqbal, representatives from Philippine Shariah Lawyers Incorporated, Mindanao State University-Maguindanao MAIS Society and Colland College of Criminology, Rohanisah M. Taha-Basa, ShL, Treasurer, Philippine Shari’ah Lawyers, Inc. Board of Trustee, MMMS, and Atty. Gapor G. Quituar, Board of Director of IBP Cotabato Chapter.

In her message, Atty. Ibrahim said, “Kami po ay naririto para mag-abot ng tulong, hindi lang isang tulong ng pag-papa iftar or pagbibigay ng hadiyah kundi magbibigay din po kami ng kaunting knowledge, ilmo, skills para maging gabay ninyo In shaa Allah para sa inyong mga buhay.”

[We are here not only to extend help through providing Iftar or gifts but also to impart knowledge that will guide you in your life, in shaa Allah.]

Daguit said their office initiate Iftar giving activity during Ramadhan and added that they were present to also share knowledge on Islam.

Namla Ladjid who also attended the activity underscored the importance of learning about Islam and said that a person who studies Islam will surely be guided in this world and in the hereafter.

Raffy Sabal from Colland College of Criminology, said their department conducts outreach activities not only for the Muslims but also for Christians. He said Muslims should value the holy month of Ramadhan.

Taha-Basa, gave the short lecture on RA 11596 “An act prohibiting the practice of child marriage and imposing penalties for violations” while lawyer Ibrahim also gave a lecture on women and children’s rights.

The Head of the Ribat Islamic Orphanage Center, Mohammad Amir Ali, expressed gratitude to the benefactors for the Iftar and gifts received by the beneficiaries.
