Muslim youth group conducts ‘Welcoming Ramadhan Symposium’
COTABATO CITY (March 12, 2023) – In able to help educate the Muslim communities on the significance of Ramadhan, the Muslim Youth Region Organization (MYRO) organized the activity “Welcoming Ramadhan Symposium” on March 11, 2023 held at Shariff Kabusuan Cultural Complex (KCC), Bangsamoro Government Center (BGC), this city.
With the theme “Success is Here,“ the activity highlighted the essence of observing fasting during Ramadhan. It further aimed to give knowledge to the participants about the significance of the holy Qur’an in relation to Ramadhan.
The alumni and current officers and members of MYRO organized the activity that was participated by 256 audiences. The organizer also invited speakers coming from among the ulama who shared their knowledge and thoughts in Islamic perspective pertaining to relivance of Ramadhan.
Sheikh Abdulkahar Musa discussed the topic Ramadhan and Qur’an. He said the purpose of tarawi is to read the Qur’an.
“Upang sa ganon ang mga muslim marinig nila ang salita ng Allah (SWT). Ang nanampalataya sa Allah ay inuutusan na mag-ayuno sa buwan ng Ramadhan kahalintulad ng pag-utos sa pag-aayuno sa buwan ng Ramadhan sa sinaunang tao sa atin,” he said.
[“So that the Muslims can hear the word of Allah (swt). Those who believe in Allah are ordered to fast in the month of Ramadhan similar to the command to fast in the month of Ramadhan to those who came before us.”]
He added, “Ayon sa mga ulama ang makapasok lang sa paraiso ay ang mga taong Motaqun at kung gusto mong makapasok sa paraiso ay kailangan mo muna maabot ang level ng Motaqun level na mga pious.”
[“According to the scholars, the only people who can enter paradise are Motaqun and if you want to enter paradise, you must first reach the level of Motaqun who are the pious.”]
The topic, “A Muslim during the Month of Ramadhan” was tackled by Ustadz Faisal Dacungan.
He said, “May iilan sa mga muslim family na ang minumulat sa kanilang mga anak ay yung mga ibang lingguwahi at yung mga bata o taong yun possible na hindi naniniwala sa Allah kasi hindi naman sila pinalaki sa kung paano maging isang tunay na islam.”
[There are some Muslim families who introduced different language to their children and most probably, their offspring would not believe in Allah since they were not raised in Islam]
Marhan Borhan tackled the topic, “The Wisdom of Fasting during the Month of Ramadhan.
“Sabi ng mga ulama oh Allah kapag ako ay dumating sa buwan ng Ramadhan ay gagawin ko ang lahat sa buwan ng pag-aayuno, magbabasa ako ng Qur’an, magbibigay ako ng sadaqah, magiging maganda ang aking pag-uugali dalisay at ikhlas yung dua ko,” he said.
[“The ulama said ‘oh Allah when I come to the month of Ramadhan I will do everything in the month of fasting, I will read the Qur’an, I will give sadaqah, my behavior will be good and pure and my prayer are ikhlas’”]
Marites Mangindra, founder of MYRO, shared her experiences about organizing the MYRO.
She related, “I feel so stressed, I feel so isolated, I could hardly felt being part of the whole. So what I did in my first year I registered the Iranon students association. So I was the first the output Iranon students association in the university.”
Faydiyah Samanodi Akmad, an alumnus of MYRO related how blessed she was that she belonged to MYRO which started in 1997 while in second year high school and how she was transformed into a youth leader.“
“I was recruited by Director Shariah Counselor Johny Balawag and I’m so proud to become leader of our society,” she revealed.
